Academic Background
Coming from an İTÜ discipline and blending theatre training with practice from her university years, Kadim has deep expertise in theatre business management and education organization. Through workshops she designed at TOMİ and innovative education programs such as “Ondokuzotuz,” she has given theatre’s pedagogical and organizational framework a professional structure. In her directing practice, with a wide repertoire from classical texts to contemporary writing, she is recognized as a technical and aesthetic authority both in independent companies and in major productions such as Nilüfer Municipality City Theatres and BKM.

Gülhan Kadim was born in Germany in 1976. She is a graduate of İTÜ Faculty of Mines, Geological Engineering. Between 1993 and 2000, she did amateur university theatre in İTÜ’s Fine Arts Department Theatre Society. She is a founding member of Altıdan Sonra Tiyatro (1999) and Kumbaracı50 (2009). She serves as General Coordinator of Kumbaracı50. She is one of the founders of TOMİ Training Center, which opened in September 2017. She plans and organizes education and workshop programs. She is among the instructors of the “Ondokuzotuz” after-work theatre course. She has acted in many productions of Altıdan Sonra Tiyatro and Kumbaracı50. At Altıdan Sonra Tiyatro, she directed “Bekleme Salonu” and “Barzo ile Konserve”; one episode of the “Vur-Yağmala-Yeniden” project at Nilüfer Municipality City Theatres; Orchestra Content’s “Bir Terennüm”; 2383’s “Aşk Bize Masal Olur”; and BKM’s “Bir Aile Provası.” As Kumbaracı50 productions, she directed “Tek Kullanımlık Hikaye” and the plays she wrote, “Yan Dünya” and “Salıncak.” She co-directed Başıbozuk Tiyatro’s “Aramızdaki Mesafe” with Bülent Gültekin. She curated the guest country Türkiye section of the Heidelberg Stückemarkt / 2019 Festival. Since 2019, she has worked as curator for Theater an der Ruhr’s “Szene İstanbul” selection. Within Tiyatro Kooperatifi, she served on the Ethics Committee from 2021 to 2024 and has continued as Vice Chair of the Board since 2024.
