Academic Background
Holding a professorship in commercial law, Tekin Memiş has crowned an academic career rooted in Ankara University with international expertise such as European Union intellectual property law screening processes. Through roles in structural reforms—including membership on the commission for the Istanbul Arbitration Center draft law—he has developed expertise at the highest level in both the theoretical and applied fields of law. Through his editorial work in scientific journals and numerous published academic works, he makes even the most complex areas of law accessible to artists and entrepreneurs.

He graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Law in 1990. After completing his master’s and doctorate, Memiş became associate professor in commercial law in 2004 and professor in 2011. Between 1991 and 2004, he served as faculty at Atatürk University Erzincan Faculty of Law, and subsequently worked as faculty at Kadir Has University Faculty of Law and Istanbul Şehir University Faculty of Law. He continues his academic work as faculty at Beykent University Faculty of Law. Throughout his professional life, Memiş has published articles and books and participated in many national and international symposia with presentations. He also plays important roles in judicial and legislative activity. He successfully chaired the State Planning Organization 9th Intellectual Property Development Plan Commission and the Electronic Commerce Law Commission. Continuing his work as an ICC Arbitrator, Memiş served on the commission tasked with preparing the draft law on the Istanbul Arbitration Center. He also participated in screening processes for European Union intellectual property law. Prof. Memiş has held editorial roles in various scientific journals and is a member of the Turkish Insurance Law Association and the Law Biology-Genetics Law Association. He is also the founding leader of the Intellectual Property Platform.
