About

Academic Background

Drawing on a strong academic foundation from Boğaziçi University Translation Studies and MSGSÜ Graphic Design, Deliorman uses it to build bridges between language and the visual arts. With adaptations of jazz standards into Turkish and more than 50 original compositions, she has contributed to the literature. Her literature research on connections between music and dream experience, along with seminars and podcast projects, examines the interdisciplinary dimension of art with academic rigor. This depth adds intellectual richness to her vocal technique and performance management classes.

Born in 1984 to a painter and actor family, Sanat Deliorman studied at Kadıköy Anadolu High School, then at Boğaziçi University’s Translation Studies Department and Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University’s Graphic Design Department. She stepped into music in her university years with an a cappella jazz choir. She did editorial work and column writing for international concert series, festivals, and music magazines; and voice-over work for global brands. After specialized training, she entered the jazz scene in 2011; with solo and group performances, she gave more than 300 concerts on Türkiye’s leading stages and performed as soloist with the Cemal Reşit Rey Jazz Orchestra. She gave club and festival concerts as a guest artist in Eastern European countries. Alongside interpreting jazz standards in her own style, she made adaptations into Turkish and added more than 50 new compositions to her repertoire, fusing genres such as jazz, tango, waltz, pop, blues, and arabesque. In this process, she founded projects including “Sanat Deliorman ve Caz Biraderleri,” “Ukulele Jazz Project,” “Konuşan Gitarlar,” “From Poland with Love,” and “Jazz Sisters.” Meanwhile, she developed “Aşk Kumbarası,” offering an interactive concert experience that combines her compositions with storytelling, vocal improvisation, and visual design. Since 2016, on Apaçık Radyo’s “Dünyanın Cazı” slot every Tuesday evening, Deliorman prepares and hosts a program sharing jazz reflections from different geographies and, through in-program conceptual interview series, provides inspiration and promotion support to independent jazz musicians. Living in Istanbul, since 2023 she has been an active member of Sisters Music Chain, a solidarity platform for independent women musicians. She serves as mentor and musician in the platform’s projects to improve Türkiye’s culture ecosystem and also gives private vocal lessons. Through her collaboration with the Dream Institute, she conducts literature research on connections between dream experience and music production and runs seminar courses and podcast projects.
