About
Academic Background
A graduate of Hacettepe University’s Department of Mathematics, Berk has placed rational thinking and data management skills at the center of her corporate life. To crown her passion for cinema with academic discipline, she studied Cinematography at Prague Film Institute, synthesizing her technical knowledge with the aesthetic rules of the visual arts. She offers students a unique methodology by approaching processes in front of and behind the camera with both executive discipline and advanced technology and software vision.
View details
İdil Berk was born in Ankara in 1971. She studied at TED Ankara College from 1977 to 1988. She completed her undergraduate degree at Hacettepe University’s Department of Mathematics and continued her corporate career domestically until 2007. Setting up the geographic information systems and entire data-flow management for BOTAŞ–BP’s Baku–Tbilisi–Ceyhan Oil Pipeline Project opened international doors for her, and after working as a manager at some of the world’s largest refineries for ten years, she returned home with the desire to pass her knowledge and experience on to young people in her own country. After building the information management and quality systems infrastructure for SOCAR’s STAR Refinery Project, she decided to end her corporate career and founded her own software company. For five years, she invested in R&D especially in Augmented Reality and developed projects. In 2021, she left everything behind and began acting training. Her interest in what happens behind the camera as well as in front of it led her to directing. In 2023, she began shooting short films with screenplays of her own and achieved success at international film festivals. In 2024, she studied Cinematography at Prague Film Institute.
İdil Berk’s hybrid profile—combining mathematical discipline with cinematographic aesthetics—is a living example of ARTENPRENEUR’s vision that ‘analytical thinking nourishes art.’
Why Learn From Them?
