Sayıcı crowned an academic journey that began at Yıldız Technical University with a doctorate in Radio, Television and Cinema and continues today as Department Chair. As author of foundational works such as “Realism in Turkish Cinema” and “Cinema for Those Who Aren’t Beginners Anymore,” he has made significant contributions to cinema literature. Born in Istanbul in 1979. Although he graduated with a master’s from Yıldız Technical University Materials Engineering in 2001, his presidency of the university film club during his student years led him to build his future and profession around film and television. He set to work with various short film and documentary projects and, as one of the founders of the Yıldız Short Film Festival, served on juries and as consultant at film festivals across the country and led workshops on short film. Fırat Sayıcı graduated from Anadolu University’s Public Relations department in 2008 and completed his master’s and doctoral studies in Radio-Television-Cinema at Selçuk University. In a television career that began as a scriptwriter at TRT, he worked on various programs on many channels. He produced and edited “Cinemania,” broadcast on Kanal D and hosted by Ömür Gedik. He began film writing in the early 2000s and became a SİYAD member in 2009. His cinema writing appeared in numerous outlets. He was among the founders of Cinedergi, founded and managed Popülersinema.com, and teaches social media courses at various educational institutions. In 2015, he began offering social media and PR services to the market through Mad Informatics Agency, which he founded. Since 2019, he has also continued as Assoc. Prof. and department chair of Radio, Television and Cinema at Esenyurt University. His cinema books “Realism in Turkish Cinema,” “Cinema for Those Who Aren’t Beginners Anymore,” and “Road and Journey in Cinema” have been published.
